SPRING 2025

MONDAYS

Lego® WeDo Robotics: Space & Aviation (K-2nd): Children will have the opportunity to explore the sky and beyond as they build and program their own aviation and space-themed robots using LEGO® WeDo kits. With projects that include helicopters and lunar rovers to flying animals and more, children will be able to bring the future right into their hands through programmable LEGO® sets. With a range of project ideas and lesson plans to choose from, children will have the chance to soar through the world of space and aviation!

 

Pickleball (2nd-6th): Come play Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport! Pickleball is a tennis/ping pong/badminton type of game.  It’s played indoors and outside (we will be indoors) on a small tennis-type court.  Learn the rules of the game including scoring, dinks, allowed serving techniques, the “kitchen” dos and don’ts, and more.  It’s an easy sport to pick up and can be enjoyed by the whole family.  We will play doubles and singles and learn the sport through easy drills and related pickleball games. Kids will get a great workout while having loads of fun.  It’s easy to learn, and a very social sport.  Equipment (including paddles, balls, and nets) will be provided by Sports and Games for Kids, LLC.


TUESDAYS

Hungry Hungry Science (K-2nd): Need some science to sink your teeth into? In Hungry Hungry Science we will explore different scientific concepts using food as our main vehicle for experimentation. We will not only use ingredients to explain different ideas through simple recipes, but make edible experiments as well to learn about reactions, acids & basis, biology, nutrition and more! If you haven’t had your fill of science fun, come fill your bellies in Hungry Hungry Science.

 

Basketball (K-4th): This popular program focuses on the fundamentals of basketball through skill-building drills and games. Basics of basketball will be introduced to those new to basketball while those with experience will expand their knowledge. We will play small sided games along with fun skill development games. It's a great way to improve your basketball skills, get some exercise, learn about teamwork and play a lot of basketball!

 

Act Up! Wizarding Playhouse (2nd-6th): Inspired by popular wizards and witches from Harry Potter to The Wizard of Oz, young performers experience a theatrical journey in this acting class by Moonlit Wings. Explore original scenes, songs, and games that bring magic to life on stage. Sharpen your acting and singing skills while making new friends along the way. Parents are invited to a mini-performance during the final class.


WEDNESDAYS

FHES Environmental Club (3rd-6th): FHES Environmental Club (3rd-6th): Come learn about the biodiversity of our school grounds!  Students will work with club leaders to enhance our school grounds by planting, weeding, and adding in some creative touches all around the school.  We will continue to work together to Fly High for a Greener World!

Chess (K-6th): Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy (formerly Magnus Chess Academy), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time.  This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.  All chess supplies provided. Flag Football (1st-6th): Come out and enjoy fun-filled non-contact flag football. Improve your football skills such as passing, running, catching, punting and kicking. Emphasis will include skill development, team work, and sportsmanship by playing intramural style flag football and related games. Small sided games will be played as needed to ensure maximum participation by each child. Please note: Kids will be grouped by age/ability to ensure a positive experience for everyone.


THURSDAYS

Bakers & Makers (1st-4th): Bakers and Makers is a class for those that like to create! The sessions will teach your children the basics in sewing, baking, and creating home crafts, and students will be able to taste or take home their own creations. They will build or bake, draw or make and let their imagination soar in these hour-long sessions.

 

Website Design (3rd-6th): Introduce your child to the fascinating world of website design! Utilizing an intuitive website builder, our young learners will discover the fundamentals of website design, responsive layouts, and multimedia integration. Our instructors will provide a supportive and hands-on learning environment, encouraging students to develop their creativity and digital skills.

By the end of the course, each child will have designed their very own website, showcasing their unique interests and talents. Let’s embark on a creative journey that will spark your child’s imagination and foster a lifelong interest in technology and design.

 

Sports & Games (K-4th): Come join the fun and learn the fundamentals of team sports including soccer, basketball, flag football, team handball, kickball, hockey, and volleyball. In addition to playing the sports listed, we will play various games such as scramble, friendship tag, pin dodge, battleship, Star wars, steal the bacon, monster ball, capture the flag, sharks and minNows, catch-up, mat ball and more. Children can release some energy, get some exercise, learn new sports and games, and socialize with other children. Values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, sharing, and consideration of others will be stressed.


FRIDAYS

Minecraft: Survival Skills (K-6th): For young gamers looking to take their Minecraft skills to the next level, this program challenges children to sharpen their survival skills in the adventurous world of Minecraft. They’ll explore more advanced gameplay, such as tracking coordinates, food sustainability, resource organization, building shelters, and crafting essential tools. As they navigate various biomes and face environmental challenges, they'll develop resilience and persevere through setbacks. Expect your child to set goals for growth with guided tasks to help them progress in the game. No device needed! We provide everything your child needs to dive into the immersive world of Minecraft.

 

Canvas and Clay! (K-6th): Creating with clay and painting on canvas- it just doesn’t get any better than that! In this class, your child will get to experiment with many different types of art while learning simple step-by-step painting and clay techniques. They will make 3D bears, owls that glow-in-the-dark, a scratch board painting of a cat and so much more! What a great way for your child to explore the incredible world of art.
